Techniques of Japanese Animation

Are you interested in anime start drawing it for your self?

Well then here is a page for you.

1. Draw the eyes like you would draw a frown. Then off that make an oval that cuts off a small part of the end. Depending on if you want to make it a girl (A1) or a guy you put eyelashes in it or not. Also if it's a guy the eyes need to be lower (A2). See moods for other types of eyes.

2. Drawing the nose depends on how the eyes turn out. If the right eye is bigger than the left eye then make a triangle with no bottom that points just below the left eye (B1). If it's the opposite then the eye should be going the opposite way (B2), but if the eyes look about equal then make a triangle in the middle of the face that is not cut off and points down (B3).

3. The mouth depends on what kind of mood the character is in. See moods.

4. Bangs, can be difficult to draw and it is hard to explain the steps that are involved in drawing bangs. Therefore I have to draw them to show you.

The second way to draw bangs is a little more complicated. It goes like this:

5. Now.. (what you've been waiting for) MOODS. The first way to draw a character is happy. The eyes will be frowns like the original eyes started out except they will be bigger (if it's a girl put a straight line on the side of the eyes). Then make the eyebrows relaxed looking (I1). If the character is mad then make a small frown on the side of the face and make the eyebrows pointing straight down (I5). If the character is furious you can make him or her with the teeth showing and the eyebrows pointing down. (I6) Also, you can make them with an evil smile (I7). If you want your character really furious draw his or her mouth open and the teeth with fangs (I8). You can also draw a person that looks like he is being tortured by drawing tear lines going down his face (C1). If you want a person who is about to cry draw tears on the side of his or her eyes and a frown near their nose (C3). If you want your character crying loudly draw streams of water coming out of it's eyes and make the mouth open all the way to the bottom of it's face (C2). Lastly, if you want a girl that is just looking cool you can make her winking with her tongue out (I9).

6. There are only three special signs in Japanese Animation. The first one is a sweat drop ( a rain drop located on the back of the character's head) (D1). It means that the character is embarrassed or that they are lying. The person that they are lying to is guessing correctly about what ever they are lying about. The second one is blushing (when a character has a shade of red on his or her cheeks) (D2). It happens when two people that like each other are pushed together, or the character is embarrassed. The third and last sign is when they have an -image D3- on their head. It means the character is feeling violent anger.
